Microgaming Slots in Canada and the Games Global Connection
Microgaming is a familiar name in online casino history, but older references to “Microgaming slots” need context. Games Global acquired Microgaming's distribution business, game intellectual property and progressive jackpot network in 2022. When looking for a title today, check the current provider, studio and game version shown in the casino lobby.

What changed in 2022?
Games Global's announcement of 3 May 2022 confirmed its operational launch following the acquisition of Microgaming's distribution business, game IP, progressive jackpot network and interests in game studios. This is why a game historically associated with Microgaming can now appear within Games Global's catalogue.
That transaction should not be shortened to “every Microgaming business became Games Global.” For players, the practical task is to identify who supplies the specific game currently on offer. The developer, distributor and casino operator perform different roles.
| Role | What to check |
|---|---|
| Game studio | The team credited for the particular title or version. |
| Supplier or distributor | The current portfolio or platform through which the game is supplied. |
| Casino operator | The company responsible for your account, payments, terms and support. |
A recognised game supplier is not a substitute for checking the operator's local eligibility and account terms. Use our Canadian casino guide and broader slot provider guide alongside this page.

Recognise a series, then verify the exact game
Names such as Thunderstruck, Immortal Romance and Mega Moolah are associated with this history. Games Global's interview with Stormcraft Studios discusses those earlier titles, while its current product catalogue shows newer variations and studio credits.
A sequel, jackpot edition or video-bingo version is a separate product, even when the artwork and title look familiar. Do not apply an old review's rules or return figure to a different version. Confirm the full title and read the help screen of the actual game in the operator's lobby.
Provider filters are useful, but operator categories are not always identical. Search the exact title and check the studio credit if an older provider label does not produce a result.
Compare rules, stakes and return information
Read the total stake range, paytable, feature rules and the stated return-to-player information before playing. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure, not the percentage of your deposit you should expect to receive back during a session. Different game configurations may exist, so use the information supplied with the actual game.
Volatility describes how widely outcomes can vary. A high maximum prize is not a useful prediction of what you will win. Optional features may cost much more than a standard spin, and their prices should be checked separately.
A demo can help you understand the controls. It does not create a method for predicting random outcomes, nor does it test an operator's withdrawal service.
Progressive jackpots need their own checks
For a progressive game, read how eligibility works: which stakes qualify, how a jackpot is triggered and what currency the displayed amount uses. A promotional image may show an earlier prize amount rather than the current game value.
Networks and available titles can differ by jurisdiction. Do not assume a similarly named jackpot shares one worldwide pool. Check the rules inside the version available to your account, including any prize-payment terms.
A growing jackpot is not evidence that it is due to be won. Keep the stake within your planned entertainment budget rather than increasing it to chase the displayed prize.
Mobile compatibility and casino terms still matter
Check supported browser and device information for the game. Older guidance recommending Flash downloads is outdated; use the operator's supported current version. See our mobile guide and browser-play guide.
Before funding an account, check CAD currency support, available withdrawals and any bonus restrictions. A game can be available for ordinary play but excluded from a promotion. Set spending and time limits and use the responsible play resources if needed.
Microgaming and Games Global FAQs
Why do older Microgaming games appear under Games Global?
Games Global acquired Microgaming's distribution business, game IP and progressive jackpot network in 2022, along with interests in game studios.
Is Microgaming the company holding my casino balance?
A game supplier and casino operator are different roles. Check the operator named in your account terms for payment and support responsibilities.
Does every Canadian casino have the same Games Global games?
No. Availability depends on the operator's catalogue and jurisdiction. Search the current lobby for the exact title.
Can different versions of a slot have different rules?
Yes. Sequels, jackpot editions and different configurations may differ. Read the help screen in the version you open.
Does a high RTP promise a winning session?
No. RTP describes theoretical long-run performance. You can lose your full session budget.
Does a large progressive jackpot mean it will pay soon?
No. Its displayed size does not establish when the next jackpot will be won.
Can I play these games on a phone?
Only where the particular game and operator support your device and location. Check current compatibility rather than an old download guide.
